Join us on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Manchester Country Club located at 180 S. River Road in Bedford, NH for the next Council dinner meeting.

We look forward to welcoming guest speaker, Susan Turnbull of Personal Legacy Advisors, LLC as she offers her presentatoin, "Legacy Conversations: The Value of Introducing Clients to Non-binding Letter of Wishes and Ethical Wills."

Faced with the daunting legalese of most estate planning documents, many clients feel they fail to address what is also important to them to build and pass on as part of their legacy: a healthy set of relationships and values, an appreciation for the assets, and clarity about the purpose and function of the plan. As tools for intentional personal communication, non-binding personal legacy documents (ethical wills, letters of wishes to trustees, expressions of donor intent) strike most clients as sensible and valuable, and should be on your checklist of subjects on which to educate your clients.

Objectives
• Introduce novel approaches for initiating client conversations on the topic of legacy
• Give a thorough explanation of the historical, literary and legal dimensions of non-binding instruments of self-expression relevant to planning: ethical wills, letters of donor intent and letters of wishes to trustees and successors
• Offer practical strategies for introducing these instruments to clients and supporting
their creation
• Share resources and suggestions for clients to find success in creating the documents themselves
• Provide interactive exercises to actively practice and internalize the concepts introduced
